Toyota Acceleration MDL Survives Dismissal Bid

Law360, New York (November 19, 2010, 3:29 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Friday denied Toyota Motor Corp.'s bid to dismiss a sprawling multidistrict litigation brought by car owners who say sudden acceleration defects caused the value of their cars to nosedive.

Judge James V. Selna of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued a tentative ruling in the case and said that he expects to file a final ruling next week.

The suits stem from the recall of more than 8 million vehicles worldwide, including 6 million in the U.S.,...
