Chubb Off Hook For IP Suit Over Nutrition Co. Ad

Law360, New York (November 22, 2010, 4:44 PM EST) -- A federal judge has ruled that Chubb Corp. subsidiary Federal Insurance Co., which insured nutrition company ISS Research LLC, does not need to pay more than $800,000 to cover a lawsuit alleging ISS used an ex-football player's likeness in an ad without permission.

Judge Graham C. Mullen of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina issued the ruling Thursday, saying an intellectual property exclusion applied to the underlying dispute and barred coverage.
