News Corp. Gets EU Antitrust OK For $12.6B BSkyB Buy

Law360, New York (December 21, 2010, 12:30 PM EST) -- Europe's antitrust watchdog signed off Tuesday on the proposed $12.6 billion merger of News Corp. and British Sky Broadcasting PLC, but warned that U.K. media regulators could still challenge the deal.

The European Commission ruled that the combination didn't pose a significant threat to competition in the European Union because the two companies operate mainly in different markets in the U.K. and Ireland.
