EPA To Institute 1st-Ever GHG Pollution Standards

Law360, New York (December 23, 2010, 5:18 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday agreed to move forward with greenhouse gas pollution standards for fossil fuel-based power plants and petroleum refineries as part of a pair of settlements in a federal appeals court with states and conservation groups.

Under the agreements, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, the EPA will propose standards for power plants by July 2011 and for refineries by December 2011, and it will issue final standards by May 2012 and November 2012,...
