Godiva Strikes $1M Deal In Calif. Overtime Action

Law360, New York (December 23, 2010, 1:41 PM EST) -- A federal judge has preliminarily signed off on Godiva Chocolatier Inc.'s offer to pay up to $1 million to resolve a class action brought by California store managers who claim they were denied meal breaks and not properly compensated for overtime.

Judge Susan Illston of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California on Wednesday granted preliminary approval to a settlement that would resolve the plaintiffs' allegations that Godiva violated overtime, meal break, rest period, untimely wage payment and record-keeping provisions of California's labor...
