Ex-Madoff Aide Wins Release After Judge Cuts Bail

Law360, New York (January 7, 2011, 3:09 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Friday approved a reduced bail package of $3 million for Bernard L. Madoff’s former assistant Annette Bongiorno, allowing her to be released from federal custody to her Long Island, N.Y., home.

Judge Laura Taylor Swain agreed to the release in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York after financial information provided by Bongiorno’s counsel revealed that she did not, as prosecutors alleged, have ample resources that could facilitate escape from the country.
