Federal Signal Cuts $3.8M Deal In Hearing Loss Suits

Law360, New York (January 10, 2011, 6:09 PM EST) -- Federal Signal Corp. has reached a proposed $3.8 million settlement with more than 1,100 plaintiffs in mass tort suits stretching back to 1999 over claims that its sirens caused permanent hearing loss among firefighters.

The company will pay as many as 1,125 firefighter plaintiffs on the condition that 93 percent of eligible plaintiffs agree to participate in the settlement, Federal Signal said in a statement Monday.
