Merrill Moves To Nix Funeral Investment Suits

Law360, New York (January 20, 2011, 2:23 PM EST) -- Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. is seeking to dismiss a funeral home's suit claiming it squandered $100 million in funeral-planning investments on junk life insurance policies, along with two similar putative class actions.

The Bank of America NA unit moved to dismiss and consolidate the suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, contending that Pettett Funeral Home Ltd.'s suit was identical to another funeral home's suit and that both plaintiffs lacked standing to sue.
