Actavis Ordered To Pay $170M In Medicaid Fraud Suit

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 1:16 PM EST) -- A Texas jury has returned a $170 million verdict against generic-drug maker Actavis Mid-Atlantic LLC for allegedly inflating its drug prices to Medicaid, a civil damages amount that Texas officials are calling a record for the region.

The jury delivered the verdict Tuesday in the 353rd Judicial District Court of Travis County, Texas, awarding treble damages to the state and federal governments in the first drug-pricing case in Texas to go to trial.
