NFL Union Appeals $4B TV Contract Decision

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 6:21 PM EST) -- Amid a burgeoning labor battle, the NFL Players Association took the league to federal court Wednesday over television contracts that the union claims improperly guarantee the league nearly $4 billion for games that could be canceled by a potential lockout.

The union said Wednesday that the NFL Special Master Stephen Burbank of the University of Pennsylvania had awarded it damages for the league's violations of a 1993 settlement that created a collective bargaining agreement under which owners are required to consider the best interest of players...
