Military Tech Exports Need Tighter Controls: GAO

Law360, New York (March 7, 2011, 6:42 PM EST) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office on Monday asked the U.S. Department of Commerce to work with the FBI and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to prevent military technology from reaching countries that pose a national security threat to the U.S.

The three agencies have not followed the GAO's recommendation that they better coordinate during export control investigations connected to technology that serve both civilian and military purposes, according to a GAO report.
