Google Loses Bid To Scrap AdWords Class Action

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 5:26 PM EDT) -- A California judge denied Google Inc.'s attempt to dismiss a class action accusing the search engine giant of charging for ads on unused and rarely visited websites through misleading contracts, saying Thursday that the amended complaint contained sufficiently detailed allegations of fraud.

Judge James Ware of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California rejected Google's arguments that the plaintiffs' third amended complaint fell "far short" of satisfying pleading standards and substituted necessary and particular allegations of fraudulent conduct with "boilerplate" allegations.
