Ex-NY Sen. Espada, Son Deny Corruption Charges

Law360, New York (April 6, 2011, 1:53 PM EDT) -- Former New York state Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. and his son pled not guilty on Tuesday to charges that they embezzled $600,000 from Espada’s health care nonprofit, rigged a janitorial contract bid and falsified tax returns.

Espada and his son Pedro Gautier Espada entered not guilty pleas to all 16 counts of the superseding indictment in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York that charged them with conspiracy, embezzlement, wire fraud and tax fraud, among other allegations.
