Ex-Ropes & Gray Atty Gets 30 Months In Prison

Law360, New York (June 30, 2011, 5:28 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Thursday sentenced former Ropes & Gray LLP intellectual property lawyer Arthur Cutillo to 30 months in prison for gathering merger tips that went to hedge fund traders including ex-Galleon Group LLC employee Zvi Goffer.

Calling it “a sad day for the legal profession,” U.S. District Judge Richard J. Sullivan said during the hearing that he felt sorry for the 34-year-old ex-attorney's wife, who will have to work and care for four children, but that the crime merited significant punishment....
