Cisco Hit With $64M Verdict In 2nd Commil IP Trial

Law360, New York (April 11, 2011, 12:07 PM EDT) -- Four months after a judge ordered a new trial on the grounds that an attorney for Cisco Systems Inc. made improper remarks about religion, a Texas jury on Friday ordered Cisco to pay Commil USA LLC $63.8 million for infringing a patent for wireless networking technology.

The award by the jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas was far larger than the $3.7 million the first jury awarded Commil in May.
