XM, Sirius Sued Over Information Broadcasting Patent

Law360, New York (May 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Optical communications company Finisar has filed a lawsuit against Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., accusing them of infringing an information broadcasting patent.

Finisar Corp. filed the lawsuit Friday against XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., XM Satellite Radio Inc., XM Radio Inc., Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and Satellite CD Radio Inc.

A Finisar spokesperson declined to discuss the suit, but noted that Finisar had successfully sued DirecTV for infringing the same patent. DirecTV has appealed the decision, but the district court awarded...
