Football Icon Claimed $34M In Illegal Losses: Witness

Law360, New York (April 12, 2011, 7:40 PM EDT) -- An accountant for the family of Lamar Hunt testified in New York federal court Tuesday that the late football booster claimed as much as $34 million in losses using allegedly illegal tax shelters marketed by Jenkens & Gilchrist PC lawyers and other professionals.

Jeff Lonsdale, who served as chief tax executive for Unity Hunt Inc., told jurors in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York that he expressed concerns to defendant Paul Daugerdas, formerly of Jenkens, about fees associated with the deals....
