Afghanistan Contractors Want Kickback Cases Joined

Law360 (April 19, 2011, 8:10 PM EDT) -- Two Afghan-American brothers charged with bribing U.S. military officials for construction contracts at Bagram Airfield asked a Hawaii court Monday to merge their case with a parallel case against them in Illinois, saying prosecutors and the defendants would benefit.

John and Tahir Ramin argue that the charges they face in Hawaii are nearly identical to those pending in Illinois, and that a consolidation and transfer of the companion federal cases to Illinois would reduce burdens on the parties and serve the interests of justice.
