Western Titanium Gets Probation In Fraud Case

Law360, New York (May 5, 2011, 5:16 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in California sentenced Western Titanium Inc. on Tuesday to five years of probation and ordered the defense contractor to pay more than $140,000 in penalties in a case alleging it manufactured fighter jet parts with substandard metals.

Judge Janis Sammartino issued the sentence after Western Titanium pled guilty in January to a single count of mail fraud — one of 19 charges the company and its executives faced in connection with an alleged scheme to foist uncertified titanium on military aircraft makers....
