FCC Wants Info About AT&T, T-Mobile Spectrum Claims

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 6:28 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission on Friday asked AT&T Inc. to provide the agency with information about the Dallas-based telecommunications giant's claim that its proposed $39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA Inc. would help solve its potential airwaves shortage problems.

In March, AT&T revealed plans to pay $25 billion in cash, with the balance to be paid using AT&T common stock, to Deutsche Telekom AG for T-Mobile USA's 33.7 million customers in a deal that would vault it ahead of main rival Verizon Communications Inc.
