Blagojevich Denies Shakedown Of Racetrack Owner

Law360, New York (May 27, 2011, 4:27 PM EDT) -- Returning to the stand on Friday, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich again denied that he held off on signing a gambling revenue recapture law in order to strong-arm a racetrack owner into coughing up a promised campaign contribution.

The beleaguered politician denied the shakedown allegation in response to tapes and transcripts of FBI wiretapped conversations presented during his second day testifying at his retrial over allegations that he tried to trade political favors for campaign cash.
