U2 Guitarist’s Malibu Development Permits Denied

Law360, New York (June 17, 2011, 2:09 PM EDT) -- The California Coastal Commission on Thursday rejected applications by U2 guitarist The Edge and business associates for a project that includes five mansions near the state's Malibu coastline.

Representatives for The Edge, also known as David Evans, and others involved in the Sweetwater Mesa project have touted efforts to design sustainable homes that will blend into the natural landscape, but commission staff and others have voiced deep concerns about the project's environmental and scenic impact.
