2nd Circ. Kills 'Zohan' Copyright Suit

Law360, Wilmington (June 24, 2011, 7:03 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit affirmed a ruling Friday dismissing a comic book creator’s copyright and unfair competition suit alleging that his idea of a crime-fighting hairdresser was ripped off by the makers of the movie “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan."

Robert W. Cabell filed suit in February 2009 against the flick's lead actor Adam Sandler and Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc., among others, contending that his Jayms Blonde comic character — a gay ex-U.S. Navy SEAL who wields an Uzi submachine gun disguised as a hair dryer...
