Facebook Ramps Up Lobbying Over Privacy

Law360, New York (August 8, 2011, 1:24 PM EDT) -- Facebook Inc. has beefed up its public policy efforts with an eye to shaping federal privacy legislation, sharply increasing its lobbying expenditures and expanding its roster of Washington insiders, disclosure records show.

In the first two quarters of 2011, the social networking giant spent $550,000 lobbying Congress, the White House and numerous federal agencies, up from about $100,000 in the same period last year, according to congressional lobbying disclosure filings.
