Ex-Players Claim NFL Uses Their Images Without Consent

Law360, New York (July 6, 2011, 10:38 PM EDT) -- A putative class of retired professional football players sued the National Football League on Tuesday in Minnesota federal court, alleging the NFL uses their likenesses in promotional videos for the league without permission.

In a complaint filed in the District of Minnesota, former wide receiver Fred Barnett claims NFL Films, the league's commercial filmmaking wing, uses video of more than 450 retired players in promotional film productions that highlight the NFL's past.
