Font Co. Sues NBC Over Harry Potter Merchandise

Law360, New York (July 8, 2011, 6:53 PM EDT) -- NBC Universal Media LLC was hit with a $1.5 million copyright infringement and breach of contract suit in New York on Tuesday by a font maker accusing the media giant of using its software to make Harry Potter gear without permission.

P22 Type Foundry Inc. sued NBCUniversal, Universal Studios Inc., plush-toy seller Nanco-Nancy Sales Co. and T-shirt maker Screenworks USA Inc. alleging they used its Cezanne Regular font software to make T-shirts, hats, pillows and other merchandise featuring imagery from the best-selling book and movie franchise....
