NJ Judge Certifies Wal-Mart Employee Class Action

Law360 (May 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The latest bad news for the world's biggest big box retailer, employees of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. won class certification Thursday in a lawsuit alleging the company altered time cards and deprived employees of breaks.

Class action status for the 72,000 current and former New Jersey employees had previously been denied by trial and appellate courts, but the decision was reversed by New Jersey's State Supreme Court in a 5-1 ruling on Thursday.
