FAA Projects Grounded After Congress Fails To OK Funds

Law360, New York (July 25, 2011, 1:25 PM EDT) -- The Federal Aviation Administration has shut down dozens of major airport modernization projects due to Congress' failure to pass the latest short-term extension to a funding bill for the agency, agency officials said Monday.

Nearly 4,000 FAA construction workers, engineers and planners were furloughed Saturday after the agency issued dozens of stop-work orders that shut down roughly 60 federal projects, including the construction of new air traffic control towers and the rehabilitation and modernization of air traffic facilities.
