Abbott Accuses Health Officials In Medicare Suit

Law360, New York (June 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Abbott Laboratories has accused California health authorities in a Medicare fraud case of “inflammatory rhetoric,” arguing the allegations against it were barred by the government's own negligence.

In the company's answer to an amended complaint filed by the state in the Massachusetts district court, Abbott said claims that it published inflated wholesale drug prices to bilk Medicare arose out of a failure by health officials to set appropriate reimbursement rates.
