US Soccer Files Trademark Suit To Protect Gatorade Deal

Law360, New York (July 28, 2011, 12:46 PM EDT) -- The United States Soccer Federation Inc. filed a lawsuit in Illinois on Wednesday claiming The FRS Co. LLC's advertisements featuring a women's national team member in uniform violated its trademarks and interfered with its contract with official sponsor The Gatorade Co.

U.S. Soccer's complaint further contends that the sports drink company's print and Internet ads depicting women's national team defender Christie Rampone wearing her official team uniform interferes with the company's contract with the player.
