Netflix Cautions Court On Wal-Mart Antitrust Deal

Law360, New York (August 1, 2011, 5:40 PM EDT) -- Netflix Inc. said Friday that Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s proposed $27.25 million settlement of a California multidistrict litigation accusing the companies of conspiring to divvy up the online DVD market threatened Netflix's reputation and trade secrets.

While Netflix said it had no problems with the settlement itself, the DVD rental and streaming service said that plans to alert class members to the deal through broad public notices rather than individual contact would essentially allow a rival to broadly damage its reputation.
