Film Studios Bag Injunction Against DVD Streaming Co.

Law360, New York (August 2, 2011, 3:15 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge handed Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and five other major movie studios a preliminary injunction Monday in their suit accusing the DVD streaming service Zediva of violating their copyrights by operating without studio licensing agreements for the films.

U.S. District Judge John F. Walter granted the studios' bid for a preliminary injunction barring WTV Systems LLC, which operates as Zediva, WTV Systems Inc. and Zediva founder and CEO Venkatesh Srinivasan from infringing the plaintiffs' copyrights by transmitting their copyrighted works to the public...
