'Ultimate Rush' Author Sues Sony, Others Over Similar Film

Law360, New York (August 2, 2011, 11:05 PM EDT) -- The author of "The Ultimate Rush," a novel about a rollerblading messenger in San Francisco, sued Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and Columbia Pictures Industries Inc. on Monday in California federal court alleging their upcoming movie "Premium Rush" plagiarized his novel.

Author Joe Quirk is taking aim at Sony, Columbia and co-authors of the "Premium Rush" screenplay David Koepp and John Kamps for allegedly infringing the copyright of his 1998 novel.
