Contractor KBR Can't Escape $100M False Claims Suit

Law360, New York (August 3, 2011, 5:58 PM EDT) -- A federal judge in Washington on Wednesday rejected Iraq war contractor Kellogg Brown & Root Services Inc.’s bid to throw out a suit brought by the U.S. seeking to recover more than $100 million in allegedly false claims.

U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth dismissed the government’s claims of unjust enrichment and payment by mistake, but left intact False Claims Act and breach of contract claims.

The government sued KBR last April, accusing it of billing the government for the cost of private security contractors in Iraq...
