Book Clubs Scam Customers With Hidden Fees: Suit

Law360, New York (August 5, 2011, 3:59 PM EDT) -- Two companies that operate book-of-the-month clubs have been scamming customers with membership agreements that fail to mention the clubs' penalty fees, according to a consumer class action filed Thursday in California.

The New York-based sister companies, Direct Brands Inc. and Bookspan, are accused of deceptive marketing and fraud for the book clubs, including Book-of-the-Month Club and Doubleday Book Club.
