Bluesman Cries Malpractice Over Cypress Hill IP Suit

Law360, New York (August 10, 2011, 3:30 PM EDT) -- Blues performer and songwriter Syl Johnson accused two Chicago lawyers of malpractice in an Illinois state court complaint released Tuesday, alleging they provided shoddy representation in his failed copyright suit against rap group Cypress Hill.

In a complaint dated Aug. 2, Johnson alleges that Douglas Morrison, Katherine Mix and their firm Morrison & Mix bungled the case he ended up losing against the rap group in 2008, when a federal judge found that he lacked a valid federal copyright registration.
