Bubba Gump Shrimp Hit With Wage Class Action

Law360, New York (August 11, 2011, 7:10 PM EDT) -- An employee of seafood restaurant chain Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Restaurants Inc. filed a proposed class action in a California state court on Tuesday, claiming he wasn't paid for work outside his regularly scheduled shift.

Named plaintiff Douglas Gates claims he was required to attend restaurant meetings five minutes before the start of his work shift, but Bubba Gump Shrimp wouldn't pay for his attendance. Gates' attendance sometimes meant he worked more than 40 hours in a week, yet he wasn't paid overtime, the suit says....
