Italy Expands Probe Of Sky Italia Soccer Broadcast Deal

Law360, New York (August 16, 2011, 8:09 PM EDT) -- Italy's antitrust authority on Tuesday announced it is broadening its investigation into News Corp. unit Sky Italia SRL’s acquisition of World Cup broadcast rights to include the media company's recent purchase of rights to the UEFA Champions League.

The agency says the expanded probe will encompass the Italian-based digital pay-TV service’s newly-bought rights to broadcast the soccer league’s 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.
