Judge Kicks Out Subpoena Bid In Soccer Antitrust Case

Law360, New York (August 17, 2011, 10:56 PM EDT) -- An Illinois federal judge on Wednesday quashed ChampionsWorld LLC's subpoena of the U.S. Soccer Federation's former outside counsel, ruling that the request came too late from the close of discovery in an antitrust suit with Major League Soccer LLC.

U.S. District Judge Harry D. Leinenweber said he had seen no evidence suggesting improper conduct on the part of former USSF in-house counsel John B. Collins to warrant extension of the discovery deadline of Jan. 31.
