DOD To Share Cyberthreats With More Contractors

Law360, New York (August 18, 2011, 1:08 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense will greatly expand a new program that shares classified intelligence about threats to data security with defense contractors and their commercial Internet service providers, a DOD official said Tuesday.

A pilot program involving 20 contractors and communications companies is now winding down. In 90 days, the program has stopped hundreds of attempted data thefts, Deputy Secretary of Defense William J. Lynn III said at a forum for the department's information technology agency.
