Judge Won't Trim Hurricane Ike Bribery Case

Law360, New York (August 23, 2011, 7:24 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge rejected bids Friday by three defendants — including an ex-politician and a former state judge — to trim a criminal case in which they are accused of helping to funnel Hurricane Ike cleanup contracts to a friend.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark denied requests from former Liberty County precinct commissioner Herman “Lee” Groce to drop charges of lying to investigators, to throw out some of the government’s evidence and to obtain additional information from prosecutors about the allegations against them.
