Writer Renews Fight With Sony Over 'Death At A Funeral'

Law360, Wilmington (September 2, 2011, 1:35 PM EDT) -- A writer claiming Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. lifted her idea for the movie “Death at a Funeral” lodged contract and fraud claims against the filmmaker in California state court Wednesday, one month after a federal judge tossed a related $20 million copyright suit.

Pamela Lawrence, of Los Angeles, alleges Sony and a host of other individuals and entities involved in the movie’s production, including star Chris Rock, breached a 2001 settlement agreement regarding use of the idea and benefited to the tune of $20 million....
