Allstate, Others Want RSUI To Cover Katrina Action Costs

Law360, New York (September 8, 2011, 6:33 PM EDT) -- Allstate Insurance Co., State Farm Fire and Casualty Co. and others on Thursday accused RSUI Indemnity Co. of breach of contract for allegedly failing to compensate them for $8.5 million in defense costs related to a class action over reinsurance liability after Hurricane Katrina.

In a complaint filed in Georgia federal court, the companies claim that since the class action named them as directors of the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association and RSUI issued MWUA a directors and officers liability policy for a period covering the action,...
