Nordstrom Hit With Class Action Over Employee Seating

Law360, New York (September 13, 2011, 2:10 PM EDT) -- A group of current and former Nordstrom Inc. employees lodged a class action against the retailer Friday in a California state court, the latest in a barrage of suits accusing companies of failing to provide employees with suitable seating while on the job.

Former Nordstrom cosmetics counter employee Jessika Tseng alleged Nordstrom was in “widespread violation” of California’s labor laws, which require all businesses in the mercantile industry to provide seating for workers when the work reasonably permits it, according to the complaint.
