Contractor Dodges Prison For Procurement Fraud

Law360, New York (September 13, 2011, 5:00 PM EDT) -- A New Jersey federal judge sentenced the president of Staff Gasket Manufacturing Corp. to three years of probation Tuesday, five months after he pled guilty to outsourcing part of the defense contractor's manufacturing to China.

U.S. Judge William J. Martini also sentenced Eric Helf to six months of home confinement and a $5,000 fine in addition to a $49,926 forfeiture he already paid. SGM, which also pled guilty, was sentenced to five years of probation and $751,091 in restitution in addition to $50,000 forfeiture it already...
