RBS, Kroger Debt Robo Calls Are Royal Pain, Suit Says

Law360, New York (September 16, 2011, 1:00 PM EDT) -- A consumer hit Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC, Citizens Financial Group Inc. and Kroger Co. with a proposed class action in California on Thursday, accusing the companies of auto-dialing his cellphone without his consent to collect on debt.

San Diego resident Patrick McNamara alleges the companies violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act by placing at least 23 calls to his cellphone regarding financing from Kroger Personal Finance, a joint venture between RBS and Kroger. Citizens is a subsidiary of RBS.
