Cablevision Didn’t Violate Verizon Set-Top Box Patent: ITC

Law360, San Diego (September 20, 2011, 9:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Tuesday overturned an earlier finding that cable company Cablevision Systems Corp. infringed a Verizon Communications Inc. patent covering set-top boxes.

The ITC reversed an administrative law judge’s May determination that the importation of digital set-top boxes by Cablevision violated Verizon’s U.S. Patent Number 6,381,748 in light of a Virginia federal court’s decision in a separate dispute between Verizon and ActiveVideo Networks Inc. that found the Verizon patent was invalid.
