ConEd Can't Hold Citigroup Liable For 7 WTC Collapse

Law360, New York (September 26, 2011, 8:12 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Friday dismissed Consolidated Edison Co. of New York Inc.'s negligence claims against Citigroup Inc. and 7 World Trade Co. LP over the Sept. 11 collapse of 7 World Trade Center that destroyed an electrical substation.

In an order granting the defendants' request for summary judgment, U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein said the duty upon which ConEd based its claims against the building's developer and primary tenant "is too far-fetched and tenuous to sustain a claim of negligence."
