Facebook Hit With Trademark Suit Over 'Timeline' Site

Law360, New York (September 29, 2011, 9:24 PM EDT) -- Timelines Inc. launched a trademark-infringement suit against Facebook Inc. in Illinois federal court on Thursday claiming the social media behemoth's planned "Timeline" website would essentially put it out of business.

The company operates Timelines.com, a website that allows users to record and share personal or historic events, and contribute descriptions, links, photos and videos related to those events. It has registered trademarks for the terms "Timelines," "Timelines.com" and the company's logo.
