La. Atty Indicted For Defrauding Athlete Clients

Law360, New York (September 30, 2011, 8:21 PM EDT) -- A New Orleans attorney who represented a number of professional football and hockey players was charged with one count of mail fraud on Friday for allegedly defrauding his clients of hundreds of thousands of dollars in workers' compensation funds.

From about January 1997 until about December 2007, Robert L. Hackett defrauded his clients of more than $460,000 by converting payments from insurers meant to settle workers' compensation claims for his own use.
